New Delhi: With more than 1 crore 17 lakh people getting administered with at least the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, it can be said that the largest vaccination drive is on the go in India. The vaccine is said to be effective after 14 days of receipt.
According to a study by Delhi’s Max Hospital and CSIR’s Institute of Genomics and Interrogative Biology (IGIB), those who were administered with Serum Institute’s Covishield, developed antibodies within 14 days after getting vaccinated.
The study said that those who already had antibodies against Corona before getting vaccinated had the antibodies increased after receiving the first dose. Max director Sandeep Buddhiraja said that this data may help scientists to find answers to many basic questions.
This study included a total of 135 people out of which 44 people already had antibodies before vaccination. It was found that these 44 people started developing antibodies very quickly after 7 days of receipt of Covishield while the others had them after 14 days.
