Sun Pharma Consumer Healthcare announced the introduction of Revital NXT in India, marking the company’s first entrance into the nutrition bar market. The product is a brand extension of Revital H, the company’s most popular product.

Revital Energy NXT and Revital Protein NXT are the two versions of the product that have been released. The rapidly rising focus on fitness among the younger part of the population may have impacted the company’s choice to expand into the nutrition bar market.

Informing about the launch into a new segement, Vidhi Shanghvi, Head, Sun Pharma Consumer Healthcare said, “With increasing health-consciousness and active lifestyles, there has been rising demand for on-the-go nutrition. Our new product – Revital NXT bar, powered with natural ginseng – the same core ingredient that fuels Revital H, helps you stay active and ace life’s demands on the go.”

Revital H hopes to give consumers with a convenient, on-the-go alternative to satiate their hunger while also meeting their nutritional needs with this line of protein and energy bars, according to the business.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries announced the launch of a special initiative ‘Sunkalp’ for the welfare of doctors, their families and the community. On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Sun Pharma announced the launch of multifaceted initiatives under Sunkalp. The company informed that the following initiatives will be rolled out in a phased manner:

• Mental health support for doctors and their families
• Webinars for doctors on mental health by experts
• Donation of COVID-19 medicines (phase 2)
• Post Doctorate educational sponsorship (phase 2)
• Educational aid for children of doctors who lost their lives to COVID-19 (phase 2)

Sun Pharma has committed Rs 100 crores towards these initiatives, which includes a donation of COVID-19 medicines to communities at large through local and state government institutions. Sun Pharma has also partnered with Mann Talks to provide doctors and their families with confidential emotional and psychological care by trained mental health professionals. Further, to educate doctors on mental health issues and enable them to take better self-care, multiple webinars will be held by experts.

To encourage research, Sun Pharma will sponsor postgraduate medical students for medical and clinical research in various fields. More than 1000 young scholars will receive grants for their research projects.

To pay homage to doctors who have lost their lives to COVID-19, Sun Pharma is setting up an Education Fund for their children. The company will provide educational grants to the affected families through this fund.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries announced that one of its wholly owned subsidiaries has entered into a license agreement with Ferring Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based biopharmaceuticals MNC Ferring Pharmaceuticals, to commercialise a Room Temperature Stable (RTS) formulation of obstetric drug, CARITEC (Carbetocin RTS) in India. CARITEC is indicated for the prevention of excessive bleeding in women after vaginal or caesarean child birth. The condition is commonly known as post-partum hemorrhage (PPH).

As per agreement terms, Sun Pharma is granted rights for co-marketing of the drug in India in the private market under the brand name CARITEC. Ferring has developed the drug and received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for introducing the drug in India.

Kirti Ganorkar, CEO-India business, Sun Pharma, said, “PPH is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide. As per WHO, 25 per cent of maternal deaths occur due to this condition. Through our collaboration with Ferring, we are introducing an innovative medicine that will help in reducing thousands of deaths from PPH every year. We believe this unique RTS formulation of Carbetocin will play an important role in PPH prevention in India.”

PPH is a frequent complication of child birth and its reported incidence in India is two to four per cent after vaginal delivery and six per cent after caesarean section. As per a survey conducted in India, PPH contributes to 38 per cent of maternal deaths.
