This is the first time when Delhi has reported more than the single highest spike of 5,000 cases in a single day. It is the highest spike since the outbreak of COVID-19. Updating about COVID-19 cases in Delhi Satyendra Jain, Health Minister said, Delhi might be facing 3rd wave of Coronavirus (COVID-19), But we must wait for another week “It’s too early to say that Delhi is experiencing the 3rd wave of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases. We must wait for another week in order to definitively say that, but it possible that we’re already in that phase.”

According to the experts, there are various reasons for the spike in cases “Already more than 5000 cases a day,Winters and festival season leading to overcrowding playing a role.And some amount due to air pollution.”says Dr.Nikhil Modi, Pulmonologist, Apollo Hospital

“There have been increasing respiratory problems amongst people and we are getting 20% more footfall,” he adds

However, some experts say ‘s the reason behind the spike in cases could be a rise in testing and not taking proper preventive measures. “The increase in cases can be the reason because”No wave it is going on the rise is due to more testing and people are more relaxed not taking preventive measures ie Mask and distance in talking.”Said Dr.Jagdish Prasad, Former DGHS, MOHFW

Doctors in Delhi are also saying that there has been a sudden rise in cases since the pollution level has increased “Pollutants have an inflammatory on the lungs and so does COVID-19.” Said Dr.Dhiren Gupta , Pulmonologist , SGRH
