Dr. Ian Lipkin, a virologist, stated on Saturday that there may be more Covid-19 variants that are already appearing. He was giving a speech at the India Today Conclave.

“Since its inception, Covid-19 has astounded us. I hope it’s over, but I can’t say with certainty because it depends on how we respond “Lipkin stated.

Long Covid is an emerging challenge, according to him, in which people have mild symptoms but are crippled with cognitive dysfunction, shortness of breath, and fatigue for an extended period of time, and even if the virus disappears, they may remain infected. “It’s a complicated picture, and we have to consider acute disease as well as the importance of avoiding a future pandemic,” Lipkin said.

Talking about the criticality of vaccination, the virologist said that India is poised to lead the world with its capability to manufacture vaccines.
