A study indicated that a third dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination was more effective than two doses of the preventative after one month in preventing infection and hospitalisation. The study, which was published in The Lancet Regional Health-Americas, looked at how successful two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine were at preventing infection, hospitalisation, and death for up to eight months after vaccination.

The effectiveness of three vaccine doses was also evaluated up to three months following vaccination, according to the researchers.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the study looked at the electronic health records of 3.1 million Kaiser Permanente members in Southern California.
