At the invitation of US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the second Global COVID Virtual Summit on Thursday.

The conference aims to stimulate new efforts to confront the ongoing difficulties of the COVID epidemic and to strengthen the global health security infrastructure. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister will speak during the summit’s opening session on the topic “Preventing Pandemic Fatigue and Prioritizing Preparedness.” On May 12, the session will be live-streamed from 1830 to 1945.

Other attendees are Belize’s Heads of State and Government as Chair of CARICOM; Senegal as Chair of the African Union; Indonesia as President of the G20; and Germany as President of the G7. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, and other dignitaries are expected to attend.

PM Modi also attended the inaugural Global COVID virtual Summit, which will be hosted by Biden in September 2021.

According to the statement, India is playing a critical role in ongoing worldwide efforts to battle the pandemic by providing safe and inexpensive vaccinations and medications, creating low-cost indigenous testing and treatment technologies, genetic surveillance, and capacity development for health care personnel.

According to the statement, India is also actively participating in multilateral fora with the goal of strengthening and reforming the global health security architecture, with WHO at the centre.
