Covid cases fall below 3,000-mark, logs 2,568 new infections

On Tuesday, India’s daily COVID-19 infection count dipped below 3000, with 2,568 new COVID-19 infections recorded.

India recorded 2,927 instances on Thursday, following which the single-day increase in cases remained over 3,000 for five days. With the addition of today’s new cases, the total number of COVID-19 infections is 4,30,84,913. India’s active caseload is at 19,137, accounting for 0.04 percent of all cases.

According to the Union Health Ministry, today’s single-day increase of 20 new fatalities brings India’s COVID-19 death toll to 5,23,889 people.

As a sign of relief, the health ministry said that the recovery rate is now at 98.74%. In the previous 24 hours, 2,911 recoveries were recorded, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,25,41,887.

According to official data, 4,19,552 tests were performed in the past 24 hours, with a daily positive rate of 0.61 percent.

So far, as many as 189.41 crore vaccine doses have been provided as part of the statewide immunisation effort.
