The number of COVID-19 cases in India has decreased, with 1,569 new infections recorded in the previous 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.

On Monday, the nation recorded 2,202 new illnesses. With the most recent cases, India now has 16,400 active cases, accounting for 0.04 percent of all cases.

The country’s daily positivity rate is 0.44 percent.

In the previous 24 hours, 2,467 people recovered from COVID, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,25,84,710. The current recovery rate is 98.75 percent.

Meanwhile, COVID claimed the lives of 19 individuals, according to the Ministry on Tuesday.

COVID-19 vaccine coverage in India has surpassed 191.48 crores, with a total of 1,914,48,94,858 people immunised as part of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

In terms of immunisation, 1,078,005 more doses of COVID-19 vaccine were provided.

According to the Health Ministry, India performed 3,57,484 COVID-19 tests in the previous 24 hours.

According to a new study, sexual minority people whose sexual orientation differs from societal standards were less likely than heterosexual peers to have undertaken cervical cancer screening tests.

The study’s findings were published in the journal “Cancer.” Regular Pap tests are suggested for women aged 21 to 65 who have a cervix in order to detect cervical cancer in its premalignant or early phases, when therapies are most successful.

There are several hurdles to cervical cancer screening, including insufficient patient-provider communication; confidence in medical practitioners; fear of prejudice at the clinic; and the assumption that Pap testing is not effective.

The researchers examined cervical cancer screening disparities related to individuals’ self-defined sexual minority status and race/ethnicity using data from the National Health Interview Survey, an interview-based programme that collects information from U.S. households on a wide range of health topics.

When compared to heterosexuals, sexual minorities had a 46% lower chance of ever having Pap tests. When the interaction of sexual orientation and race/ethnicity was taken into account, white sexual minority participants and Hispanic sexual minority participants had a lower likelihood of ever having Pap tests than white heterosexual individuals.

There were no significant differences between white heterosexual individuals and black or Hispanic heterosexual participants.

“This study emphasises the need to investigate inequities at the junction of many societally produced identities.” More work is required to reduce inequities, and future efforts should include measurements of systemic discrimination. “Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organisation located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, stated lead author Ashley E. Stenzel, PhD.

The accompanying editorial states that patient education and provider communication campaigns may assist in enhancing screening rates and that cultural adaptation of treatments is required to eliminate current inequities.

COVID-19 immunisation for minors in India began on January 3 for individuals aged 15 to 18, using Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. On March 16, the push for Corbevax was expanded to include youngsters over the age of 12. India is now distributing two COVID-19 vaccinations to children above the age of 12.

According to a recent study done by the University of Bristol, British children’s levels of physical activity were much lower by the time COVID-19-induced limitations were abolished.

The study’s findings were published in the journal “International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.” According to the study, slightly more than a third (36 percent) of the population will meet the national recommended physical activity criteria by the end of 2021.

While their parents’ physical activity levels remained unchanged, the National Institute for Health and Care Research-funded study found that 10 to 11-year-olds engaged in only 56 minutes—less than the recommended hour—of moderate to vigorous-intensity physical activity during weekdays from April to December. That’s around eight minutes fewer every day, a 13% decrease from what youngsters of a comparable age were doing before the pandemic.

“It was surprising the extent to which children’s physical activity levels had fallen after the pandemic, indicating that changes in physical activity patterns did not revert to previous levels once freedoms had been restored,” said senior author Russ Jago, Professor of Physical Activity and Public Health.

As we emerge from the COVID-19 epidemic, these findings show a greater need to engage with children, families, schools, and communities to maximise chances for children to be physically active. “

The data revealed that youngsters were less active on weekends than during the week, with just 46 minutes of moderate-to-severe physical activity on weekends. This was approximately 8 minutes slower than the activity of youngsters assessed using the same procedures prior to the epidemic.

The study, which was published today in the International Journal of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity, also indicated a significant rise in sedentary time, with youngsters being inactive for 25 minutes more each day than earlier in the week.

The study, which was financed by the National Institute of Health Research, enrolled 393 children and their parents from 23 schools in the Bristol region, who wore an accelerometer to quantify the intensity of physical activity and completed a questionnaire. The data revealed that youngsters were less active on weekends than during the week, with just 46 minutes of moderate-to-severe physical activity on weekends. The study, which was financed by the National Institute of Health Research, enrolled 393 children and their parents from 23 schools in the Bristol region, who wore an accelerometer to quantify the intensity of physical activity and completed a questionnaire.

This data was compared to that of 1,296 children and their parents collected from 50 schools in the same area prior to the epidemic.

Physical activity is essential for the health and happiness of children. The UK Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) suggest that all children and adolescents engage in one hour of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) every day. This is an activity that causes youngsters to become slightly heated, sweaty, and out of breath. The Chief Medical Officers also recommend that youngsters restrict their time spent sitting.

“The important feature of our study was that we used data obtained before and after the epidemic, using the same methodologies and in the same schools,” said Dr Ruth Salway, a Statistician at the university’s School for Policy Studies.

“The data clearly shows that once the limits were loosened, children’s physical activity declined. This emphasises the need of knowing how such behaviours evolve over time in order to provide appropriate support and interventions when normalcy returns.”

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 2,841 new COVID-19 cases in India in the previous 24 hours on Friday.

With this, India’s daily COVID case count fell below 3000 for the fourth day in a row. The country’s active caseload now stands at 18,604, accounting for 0.04 percent of all positive cases in India.

The daily positive rate of COVID in India is 0.58 percent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.69 percent.

In the previous 24 hours, 3,295 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered patients since the start of the pandemic to 4,25,73,460.

According to the government, the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.74 percent.

Across the previous 24 hours, 4,86,628 COVID-19 tests were administered, bringing the total number of tests administered in the country to more than 84.29 crore (84,29,44,795).

According to preliminary data, India’s COVID-19 immunisation coverage has surpassed 190.99 crore (1,90,99,44,803) as of 7 a.m. today. This was accomplished through 2,381,51,277 sessions.

COVID-19 immunisation for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. More than 3.12 crore (3.12,97,391) adolescents have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination so far.
