The total COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 41.76 crore, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

More than 20.83 lakh vaccine doses have been administered on Wednesday, according to a 7 pm provisional report.

The ministry said that on Wednesday, beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 44 years got 10,04,581 vaccine jabs as first dose and 95,964 as second dose.

Cumulatively, 13,04,46,413 people in the age group of 18 to 44 years across all states and Union Territories have received their first dose and 53,17,567 their second dose since the start of phase three of the vaccination drive.

Three states — Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh — have administered more than 1 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the age group 18-44 years.

Also, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand and West Bengal have administered the first dose of Covid vaccine to more than 10 lakh beneficiaries of the age group 18 to 44 years, the ministry said.

According to a recent report released by the Health Ministry, nearly 86% new cases have been reported along with 89 deaths in 6 states of India in the last 24 hours. While more than 1.66 crore doses of vaccine have been administered till 7 a.m. today.

Health ministry said that a total of 17,407 new cases have come out today from Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka collectively.

With this figure, India’s active caseload has reached 1,73,413 today. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 9,855 with maximum casualties (42). This is the highest number recorded in Maharashtra since 18^th October when 10,259 new cases were reported. It is followed by Kerala with 2,765 and 15 deaths while Punjab reported 772 new cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, nearly 1 million doses have been distributed across the country in these 24 hours.

More than 1.66 cr (1,66,16,048) vaccine doses have been administered through 3,23,064 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. These include 67,90,808 HCWs (1st dose), 28,72,725 HCWs (2nd dose), 58,03,856 FLWs (1^st dose) and 4,202 FLWs (2^nd Dose), 1,43,759 beneficiaries aged more than 45 years with specific co-morbidities (1^st Dose) and 10,00,698 beneficiaries aged more than 60 years.
