Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India, praised India’s efforts to combat the Covid epidemic on Sunday, noting that the government and medical professionals played a significant role in the fight.
The comment was delivered by the SII CEO during the Bharti Super Speciality Hospital’s opening ceremony in Pune.
“Everyone is looking at India today our Covid management is one of the major reasons why. It was all possible because of the government, healthcare workers and a common goal to tame the virus,” he said.
“I have been all over the world but the Covid situation in India is better than anywhere else. I would urge everyone to stay in India,” Poonawalla added.

In the meantime, amid the continued worldwide Covid spike, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday urged the people to remain vigilant and adhere to the Center’s advice rather than panicking.

He continued by saying that even if Covid will continue to mutate and other strains or varieties would emerge, the public shouldn’t be unnecessarily frightened and should only trust the information provided by official government sources in order to prevent panic.

“We have seen the work done by the Serum Institute team, Aadhar and Cyrusji to show the world what power India is on the back of the world. We are proud of this leadership and team!,” tweeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

“.@adarpoonawalla ji, We always wanted to say Thank You. The entire nation wanted to say Thank You. So, it is on behalf of the entire nation we say ‘Thank You for saving us’!,” Fadnavis posted. According to the Health Minister, the government is vigilant and taking all necessary steps to erect a strong pandemic defence.
