India reported173 new instances of Covid-19

The previous 24 hours saw 173 new Covid-19 cases in India, according to statistics from the Union Health Ministry. With the addition of these cases, India currently has 2,670 active cases. In the nation, 207 more persons overcame the illness in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,41,45,445 with a 98.8% recovery rate. 92,955 tests were performed in the previous 24 hours, according to statistics from the Health ministry. According to a statement from the ministry of health and family welfare, the nation on Sunday saw 265 new instances of Covid-19.

The ministry reported that 6,675 doses of the vaccine were given throughout the course of the past day, bringing the total to 220.1 cr. In the nationwide vaccination drive, 22.41 million prophylactic doses and 95.13 million second doses were given out of this total.

According to sources in the Union Health Ministry on December 29, all international passengers travelling from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand to India beginning on January 1, 2023, will be required to submit a report via the Air Suvidha portal and undergo mandatory RT-PCR tests prior to departure.

The operational readiness of health institutions is being examined in all states and Union Territories in case of another wave, since there have been reports of an increase in Covid cases in various nations.

Covid instances have recently increased globally due to the BF.7 strain, which is thought to be the main source of the increase, particularly in China and the US.
