According to reports, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation’s (NTAGI) Standing Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) has approved the use of Biological E’s Corbevax and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children aged 5 to 12 years. According to the ANI, no decision was made to include these vaccinations in the Covid-19 immunisation campaign.
In the previous month, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) working group Covid-19 evaluated the data of Covid-19 vaccinations for children aged 5 to 12 years.
The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted emergency use authorization to Biological E’s Corbevax for children aged 5 to 12, and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children aged 6 to 12.
The move occurred after Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the government’s objective of providing Covid-19 vaccine to all eligible children as soon as possible through “special programmes” in schools.
