India records 12,781 new COVID-19 cases, including 18 fatalities

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 12,781 new COVID-19 cases and 18 fatalities in India in the previous 24 hours.

On Sunday, India recorded 12,899 new COVID-19 cases, including 15 deaths. There are currently 76,700 active cases in the country, with a daily positive rate of 4.32 percent.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, India’s COVID infection count has risen to 42,707,900.

According to the Ministry, Delhi recorded 5542 new cases, Maharashtra reported 23746, Tamil Nadu reported 3522, and Uttar Pradesh reported 2540 new cases.

Covid vaccines

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday that over 193.53 crore vaccine doses have been distributed to states and union territories as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

According to official data, about 12.75 crore balance and unutilized vaccination doses are still accessible with states and union territories.

“So far, more than 193.53 crores (1,93,53,58,865) in vaccine doses have been distributed to states and union territories through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and the direct state procurement category. More over 12.75 crores (12,75,03,205) of unutilized COVID vaccination doses remain with the states and UTs to be administered “read the official statistics.

The Central Government is dedicated to speeding up and broadening the scope of COVID-19 immunisation across the country. The national COVID-19 vaccine campaign began on January 16, 2021.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccine universalization began on June 21, 2021. The vaccination campaign has been stepped up with the availability of more vaccinations, increased visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for better planning, and simplification of the vaccine supply chain.

In the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the Union Government would acquire and deliver (at no cost) to States and UTs 75% of the vaccines manufactured in the country by vaccine makers.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 196.18 crores of COVID-19 vaccine doses have been delivered thus far.

In light of the recent increase in COVID-19 instances recorded throughout the country, the Health Ministry of India asked states and union territories on June 9 to be vigilant and rigorously adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour.
