India recorded 12,569 fresh cases of the coronavirus (Covid-19). The total number of active in the country has fallen to 178,200. The five most affected states are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala , Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The more than 21 lakh healthcare workers across the country have received Covid-19 vaccine.
In an ICMR study on COVAXIN has shown effectiveness against UK variant, “We performed the plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT50) using sera collected from the 26 recipients of BBV152/COVAXINTM against hCoV-19/India/20203522 (UK-variant) and hCoV27 19/India/2020Q111 (heterologous strain).”
“A comparable neutralization activity of sera of the vaccinated individuals showed against UK-variant and the heterologous strain with similar efficiency, dispel the uncertainty of possible neutralization escape.” Stated document appeared in bioRxiv
