NEET Counselling 2021: Schedule soon on mcc.nic.in

by Pragati Singh

Medical Counselling Committee, MCC, will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET Counselling 2021. MCC has given a significant update on the arrangement of counselling for the academic year 2021-22, as students eagerly await NEET PG and UG counselling dates. More information is also accessible at mcc.nic.in, the official website.

For this academic year, NEET Counselling 2021 for both UG and PG programmes will be held in four rounds. MCC has issued a notification alerting everyone that the AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up round, and AIQ Stray Vacancy round will be held. AIQ stands for All India Quota Seats in this case.

Previously, this counselling was only held for three rounds; however, in accordance with a “Order dated 16/12/2021 in Special Leave to Appeal (C) No(s).10487/2021 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India,” MCC has notified everyone that this year’s counselling would be held for four rounds.

This information has also been updated in the Information Bulletins on NEET UG counselling and NEET PG counselling. MCC’s official notice on this also reads, “It is further informed that no AIQ seats will be reverted back to the respective States after the completion of AIQ Round 2.”

NEET Counselling 2021 has been facing a lot of backlash due to an indefinite delay. The result for both UG, PG courses was released some time back and the counselling was expected to start soon after. However, due to some issues with EWS, OBC reservation in AIQ, Supreme Court put a hold on NEET PG counselling and hence, a delay was expected in the UG counselling as well.

Meanwhile, some states have started with their NEET Counselling 2021 for UG courses at the state level. In another news, resident doctors have resumed their strike due to a delay in PG Counselling dates, boycotting all services, including emergency.
